One of the things I love collecting are crystals and gems and stones. For some reason, I just love to have them around me all the time. My favorite is amethyst. I learned very quickly how true the descriptions of what amethyst does for you that Scott Cunningham listed in his “Encyclopedia of Crystal, Gem, and Metal Magic” are. You see, when my mom was on hospice, I was her sole caregiver. A CNA came in for 45-90 minutes Monday-Friday to give her a bath (I just wasn’t very good with that whole thing LOL) and the nurses came in as well, but except for them, I was alone with Mom 22 out of 24 hours a day.
I had read that amethyst helped you sleep and helped drive away nightmares. I don’t have nightmares, but I do have insomnia, and so I put an amethyst under my pillow. I had not, however, paid attention to the portion of the description that said if you are stressed, to hold an amethyst in your non-dominant hand (left for righties, right for lefties) and allow the stress and negative energy to pour out of you and into the stone. Or so I thought. Imagine my surprise to find, several times, that I would wake up with my left hand shoved under my pillow, clutching that amethyst stone for all it’s worth! I seriously credit that little stone under my pillow for keeping me from actually breaking under the strain and stress during that 10 months that my mom was at home for her hospice care. I know that poor little stone must have absorbed a boat load of energy.
The strangest thing about the little stone is… when I was cleaning out the house after my mom passed away, I could not find the stone! It had disappeared. I never did see it again. Same with my 2nd amethyst. I’m on my 3rd amethyst now, and I know exactly where it is.
I also have quartz, rose quarts, green aventurine, tiger eye, sodalite, carnelian, and a few other stones. Some came in a feng shui set, and others came in a chakra stones set I purchased. They’re currently sitting in little velour bags, waiting for me to work with them.
I shall have to start working with my stones soon.
Do you, my readers, have any stones you work with? If so, which ones, and do you have a favorite? Are there any that you simply “don’t get along” with?

My three favorite stones are rose quartz, moonstone and labradorite.
I cant think of any stones I have ever not gotten along with. I love all of them and wish I had more around my house.
