Re: the giveaway. Very good question! I was wondering the same thing myself :) I had the thought of giving away my very first athame ... but I'd have to find where I put it first ("someplace safe" usually ends up being "misplaced" for me).

Wait a minute now, I never tried to convert anyone. All I tried to do was clarify a few misconceptions and make the point that Christian beliefs might not be as repulsive as you currently perceive. I'm not one to condemn people to hell or scream "repent" from my soapbox. I've tried to be both respectful and thought-provoking, and please forgive me if I've come across in any other way.

When I hear that everyone should be free to believe as they feel is right for them, I always wonder if the person who thinks that way has thought their position through. Would they stand silently by as a person that believes in cheap lumber fells the Great North Woods? Would they support a person that believes that God has given humans an absolute entitlement to explore for and exploit oil, even in sensitive ecological areas? Would they allow a friend to join a dangerous cult because their friend should be free to believe that the madman in charge of it is divine?

For my money, it would be better to say "those beliefs are wrong, and I'm going to speak and work against them." To instead say "those beliefs aren't for me, but it's fine if others believe that way" leaves you with a million tree stumps, an oil-soaked wildlife refuge and a dead friend. Unacceptable in all cases.

By the way, I've been to rituals, so I'm not totally oblivious to Wiccan/Neopagan ways either. ;) Good luck with your contest; sounds like fun.
