Wander the Web Wednesday

  • Posted on February 11, 2009 at 7:14 pm

Well, here we are for another edition of Wander the Web Wednesday. Please realize that not all of the links will be Wiccan/Pagan related. :)

1. Look Beyond Mirrors – A wonderful blog/business site by some great Wiccan/Pagans. They offer Tarot readings, etc, as well as some pretty darn interesting blog posts. :)

2. PaperBackSwap – If you’re looking to save money on books, PaperBackSwap is a good way to do it. You can either purchase credits, or if you have books to swap, you can get credits by sending out books to others. You pay the shipping to ship the books to the other person, and whoever you order from pays to ship the books you order to you! I’ve gotten a couple of Pagan books from there, so there are some Pagan themed books on there.

3. VampireFreaks – For those of us who happen to be Goth/Punk, or just really into the vampire culture, VampireFreaks is another social networking site to join. It’s pretty cool, and yes, I do have an account there. :)

4. The Inner Sanctum of Wicca and Witchcraft – This site has info, a witch store, forums and more. A nice little place to visit.

5. Dreamer’s Odyssey – a Website competition. I’ve been in competitions off and on for the last 8 years. They can be a lot of fun, plus you can make a lot of friends. :)

So there you have that. Now for some rather upsetting site news. Got-Wicca.Org will cease to exist after Feb. 19, 2009. This is not due to my wanting to let it go, however, the domain renewal is coming up on Feb. 19, and I do not have the money to renew it. I plan on keeping the blog, but it will be going to subdomain off my main domain. Perhaps if I get the money later and have the opportunity to do so, I will re-register Got-Wicca.Org, but for now, the domain will no longer be mine.

Approaching Tarot Readings

When I was first beginning to learn to read Tarot, I had done a small spread, in which I had fully expected to see the Death card as the final outcome card. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was not the final outcome card, but when I told my friend, also a Tarot reader, about the reading, she chastised me. Why? I had approached the reading with an outcome already in mind.

When approaching the Tarot, one must always keep an open mind. Coming into a reading with a particular outcome already in mind can and most likely will, color the reading. If you are reading for yourself, you’ll read what you want to read into the cards – what your mind has already decided the outcome will be. If you are getting the reading from someone else, you may be hard pressed to listen and believe in what the reader is telling you, because you’ve already decided what is going to happen.

The cards do not, as some believe, tell the exact future. They give you an idea of what may happen. If the outcome is negative, and you do not change things, then you may find yourself on the wrong end of something. If the outcome is positive, and you make changes that change the outcome, you may find that you’ve completely eradicated the positive outcome, or you may find that the outcome is even better than first expected. It all depends on what the cards said and what your actions were after the reading. No future is written in stone. It isn’t like the Terminator movies where nothing changes anything, and everything keeps happening again and again. The future can be changed. Tarot can give you a window into the what may happen, not what will happen.

The best advice I can give anyone who is planning on doing a reading for themselves or others, or having someone do a reading for them, is go into the reading with an open mind and no expectations. Otherwise, the reading could very well fail to yield anything.

Wander the Web Wednesday

I know there’s only 30 minutes – 3 1/2 hours of Wednesday left, depending on where you live, but I’d like to bring back an old thing I snagged from a blog I love to visit but haven’t seen on that blog for a long time. It’s called Wander the Web Wednesday.

Basically, this gives out websites that the blogger things is worthy to pass along to others. Generally it’s about 5 websites, but if I fall a bit short (I’m rather tired and silly right now), please forgive me.

  1. 2Witches.com – Lady Rose and Mama Kelly’s blog, A Blog of 2 Witches, moved to this new domain on November 1, 2008. Since then, these wonderful ladies have held 3 giveaways, made countless posts, and yet still have been losing traffic. It’s a shame to see them losing the traffic they had before. Stop by and let them know you’re still reading!
  2. WitchyMama.com – This one is a very interesting blog written by a mom whose family is all Wiccan/Pagan. Her site is also in my blog roll, and she’s also got another very interesting blog that you can read as well.
  3. Eternal Stardust Jewelry – Yes, I am taking the time to put my jewelry shop on Etsy up here. I’m adding new items as I can, and I’m planning on adding more gemstone related items.
  4. Twitter – If you’ve never been to Twitter, it’s addictive! It’s like text messaging for the internet! :)
  5. CovenSpace – MySpace for Wiccans/Pagans. I have an account there but can’t remember my information. Go figure. :P

So there you have it. Wandering the Web Wednesday. Hopefully I’ll be able to surf the web and find some Wiccan/Pagan sites or general interest sites to bring you next Wednesday.
