The Thirteen Principles of Wiccan Belief

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

I found this video on YouTube and I have to say, I was very impressed. Although at times it can be hard to find, there actually is a lot of Pagan/Wiccan cotent on YouTube. This particular video showcases the 13 principles of Wiccan belief, which I think is a great idea. Hopefully viewing this video can help some people clear up at least some of their misconceptions about Wicca or Paganism. At least as far as what we believe.

Amazing

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

It’s amazing the shortsightedness of some people. One of my favorite places to go and learn about Wicca has come under fire by someone who felt the desire to report, falsely, to Llewellyn that the owner of the school was offering for free download, PDF copies of portions of books or entire books published by Llewellyn. I know for a fact this is not at all true, the courses the books in question are required for state clearly that you must purchase a copy of the book in order to take the course. Now the school’s owner may have quoted from the books in the lessons, but last I checked it was legal to quote from a book. However, even though she offered to allow the people at Llewellyn and the author of said books to view the school and see that no downloads are permitted and the she is quoting portions of the book for understanding and emphasis in her lessons, the author has sent threatening emails.

Frankly, I feel this sets us, as Wiccans,  way back in educating people on who and what we are. It is hard enough for us to educate people as to who we are, what we stand for, what we believe, and what we do.

However, a big part of this is that copyright law is extremely hard to understand. There is a section dealing with educational use of copyrighted materials, but it is hard to understand. There’s no way of knowing if someone’s online school of Wicca, that they offer for free to anyone who wishes to take the courses is covered under that.

I am disappointed that anyone would take the time to send out emails falsely accusing a great lady of doing something she has never done. She’s always asked that you purchase the book and has never offered a download of any PDF files of any portion of a book. It makes me sick to think that people can be so petty and cruel.

There will not be a Wander the Web Wednesday this week. I’ll be back next week, hopefully.

Mabon

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

I held my ritual earlier this evening for Mabon. It turned out very nicely despite the Goddess and Northern quarter candles not wanting to light for me. I always feel like the rituals do not take as long as they should when I perform them alone, but I’ve also been told that I will feel compelled to move forward with the ritual when it is time, so I am assuming that I am doing everything just fine.

I apologize for missing Singing Saturday yesterday. I went to view this blog and found that it was, well, missing. I had no index page and no idea if the upgrade I’d performed on WordPress a day or two ago had been completed. So I fixed everything up but never got back to post my picks for music. That’s all right. I hadn’t found any new music on payplay.fm this week anyways. Mainly because I hadn’t looked. LOL

Tomorrow I start a new job at a new company. I will be doing tech support for RoadRunner high speed internet. This job is right up my alley, and frankly, I’m glad to be getting away from the nasty, Gaia-destroying chemicals that I had to use for cleaning the hospital. It just wasn’t a good fit for a Wiccan like myself. I had much more respect for life and our Earth Mother than the other people there.

I am interested in learning about Celtic Wicca. If anyone knows of any good Celtic Wicca sites that offer free classes/instruction in the Celtic tradition, please let me know. :)

I am off to find some music on PayPlay.fm. I’m looking for Celtic songs this time. I’ll be back next Saturday with my findings. :)

Blessed Be!

Wander the Web Wednesday

wanderwebwednesday.jpg

The idea is to highlight links that you feel would be new to other readers.

They can be daily reads or personal favorites.

They may be something fun, freaky, or just plain fascinating that you stumbled upon while surfing the web.

If you’d like to play along, make your own list of websites and then leave a comment here with your URL.

No particular theme this week. Just a few links to places I like to wander about to. :) Some of them may be well known, others may not. Who knows. :)

1. Pogo - My favorite game site. Yes, I’m there a lot. LOL

2. Care2 - I sign a lot of petitions and get email from these guys. They’re doing everything they can to care for our planet and it’s inhabitants whether animal, human, or plants.

3. TFL - TheFanListings.Org. There ARE some Wiccan/Pagan related fan listings, include some Sabbats, etc.

4. Llewellyn Publishing - I know, you’ve probably heard of or seen this one, but I love going there and checking out the fun and free section, plus seeing what’s coming out soon for publication.

5. Last.FM - I use this program to listen to music on the internet. You can create a profile, find out what your friends are listening to, and even put a widget on your blog to let everyone know what you’re listening to or what you last listened to. It can even tell what you’re listening to on Windows Media Player, Winamp, and iTunes.

So there you have it. Some eclectic sites that I like to frequent. :)

Shame On You Mr. Bush

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

If you read this article from America United, you’ll see why I say that.

Then again, what do you expect?  President Bush has been very public about his views on religion, that he is a devout Christian. He has publicly spoken out against Wicca/Paganism in the past. So can we really expect any better of him?

But shame on you Mr. President. You were elected to serve ALL  the people of the United States, not just the ones whose religious views, beliefs, and faiths you agree with and approve of.

Witch Way Books

Saturday, September 15th, 2007

I’ve started a book store on Amazon.com called Witch Way Books. Please, take a look at it. There is a link to it in the sidebar showing a featured item. :)

Features?

Saturday, September 15th, 2007

I am looking to add some features to this site, something to remind me to make posts on this blog. I wanted to do a daily spell, but as all of my spells are copyrighted to Llewellyn, I am unable to post any of them here. I did add a link in the Resources for their Spell-A-Day on their site.

However, I am wondering, if there is anything you, my readers, would like to see on my blog? I have Singing Saturday and if I remember, Wander the Web Wednesday, but I’d like to have other features as well. Let me know what your suggestions are.

Singing Saturday #1

Saturday, September 15th, 2007

Singing Saturday is a feature based on Pagan Music Friday on A Blog of 2 Witches. They turned me onto PayPlay.fm which allows you to download music for free using Karma Points. Not all artists have songs available for download using Karma Points, but believe me, with as many songs as are available, you are sure to find something you like!

Here are three songs that I found that I was rather fond of. All of these songs are available for download using Karma Points.

Hidden Sky - From the album Hidden Sky by Jami Sieber.

Orc Mine - From the album Aurelian by Lothlorian.

The Wandering Trickster - From the album Journey Through Light and Shadow by WindWood.
